The U.S. and its allies face many grave dangers today, including the spread of ballistic missiles and nuclear know-how. The International Security Advisory Board (ISAB), designed to provide independent analysis and advisement regarding such issues for the Secretary of State, recently published a report titled “Mutual Assured Stability: Essential Components and Near Term Actions.” The report’s recommendations, however, are almost exclusively focused on improving relations with Russia and largely ignore the risks associated with a nuclear North Korea and Iran… (more) http://ow.ly/1meftz

European Union Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger will travel to Azerbaijan on 1-2 September, EU office in Baku reported on Friday.
“In Baku he will hold meetings with President Ilham Aliyev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister of Energy and Industry Natig Aliyev and other officials. Turkish Cotam Enterprises, which is a long-term partner of Turkmenistan, has offered new projects for consideration, an official Turkmen source said on Wednesday.
The presentation was attended by the company’s head Muammer Agym at a high level recent working visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Turkey.

European Geopolitical Forum
A sea agreement was signed in Moscow, following a meeting of Russian-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, media outlets reported on Thursday citing the press service of the Russian government.
The document was signed between the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and is concerned with delegation of authority for the services to conduct surveys of ships and documentation in accordance with the requirements of international treaties relating to merchant shipping.
